The Ministry of Finance was formed on 09th July 2015 by a presidential decree. The Ministry of Finance was established to implement the Public Financial Management (PFM) system so that it can better co-ordinate with other Ministries in ensure all government revenues and expenditures are controlled and managed through a Treasury Single Account (TSA) for better service delivery to the public.

The Ministry of Finance was established with the assistance of our partner Somali Stability Fund (SSF) who were instrumental in the implementation and the success of the PFM system in Interim South West State Somalia (SWSS).
